Booking airport parking: the 5 checks you cannot make on your own

When you book airport parking, you see a price, some photos and an address. You do not see who really runs the site, where your car will spend the night, or how the service works on the evening you come back. Booking through a platform that checks the operator means handing those checks to a team that makes them on site, before you.

This matters because not every car park around an airport plays by the rules. In April 2026, the administrative court of Versailles upheld orders that stopped four companies from running parking operations near Paris Orly, on fire safety and pollution grounds. Knowing who you are leaving your car with matters more than a few euros of difference.

In short

From home, you can check a company name. You cannot check where the cars are actually parked.

On Comparkly, we only list car parks we trust: documents checked, owner met, storage site inspected on our visits.

We make test bookings to check the service from the customer side, from key handover to return.

The price shown is the total for your dates, all fees included, with no surprise at the last step.

If something goes wrong, real people answer Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00.

What you can check yourself, and what you cannot

Some checks are within your reach. A company name, a registration number, readable terms and conditions, a full price before you pay: all of that takes a few minutes, and it already counts for a lot.

Others are much harder. From a web page, you cannot tell whether the site is fenced, whether the keys are kept in a locked cabinet, whether the shuttle takes ten minutes or forty, or whether the cars really spend the night where you are told. That is exactly where the problems reported by the French press around Orly in 2025 began: cars collected at the drop-off zone by fake valets, then parked somewhere other than promised.

These checks mean travelling, meeting people and testing the service. A single traveller cannot do that for every car park. It is our job.

The 5 checks we make before you

1. The company's documents

Every partner signs our partner contract, and we check its documents: company registration, insurance, the right to operate the site. A car park set up without permission can close overnight, with customers' cars still inside. This check reduces that risk before you book.

2. A conversation with the owner

We talk with the owner or director of each car park. Who makes the decisions, who answers when something goes wrong, how the team handles late returns: none of that is on a listing, but it says a lot about how your car will be treated.

3. Where the car really sleeps

We do not stop at the reception. On our visits, we go and see the site where the cars are actually parked: the entrance, how it is closed, where the keys go. A visited car park carries the 'Verified by Comparkly' badge with the date of the visit. Visits are under way city by city: a car park without the badge has passed the document check but has not been visited yet.

4. Valet companies, met in person

With a valet, you no longer see your car once you hand over the keys. So we meet the valet companies we work with in person, to find out who drives the cars, where they go and how the handover works. Our guide to airport valet parking explains how a normal handover should go.

5. Test bookings, as a customer

We book ourselves, the way you would. These test bookings let us check the service from start to finish: the confirmation, the key handover, whether times are kept, the shuttle, the return and how support responds. An announced visit shows a car park at its best. An ordinary booking shows what you will actually get.

What booking on Comparkly adds

A total price, with no surprise at the last step

The total for your dates is shown before you pay, all fees included, our service fee too. Optional extras are marked as optional. The price is agreed with each car park: what we add is not a promise about price, it is a check on whoever looks after your car.

Clear cancellation rules

You get a refund until 24 hours before arrival, minus the service fee. With the Flexible cancellation option, you can cancel until 2 hours before arrival, minus the service fee and the price of the option. We explain these rules in our article on airport parking cancellation and changes.

Reviews from real stays

Since 28 May 2022, EU rules require any site that shows consumer reviews to say whether, and how, it checks that they come from people who actually used the service. French consumer law also requires fair and clear information on how reviews are published and handled. On Comparkly, only customers who completed a stay booked with us can leave a review.

Real people if something goes wrong

If the car park does not answer, or you disagree about what happened, you have someone else to call. Our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00: +32 2 320 96 38 for Belgium, +33 7 43 39 46 35 for France, or support@comparkly.com. They are real people who know the car parks.

A traceable online payment

You pay online through Comparkly, using Stripe. Some car parks let you pay part in cash on arrival. For bookings paid fully online, the car park only receives its share after your stay starts.

What stays in your hands

On the day, it is the car park's team that greets you, takes your keys if it is a valet service and gets you to the terminal. That is exactly why we go and meet them in person. A few habits are still worth keeping, whichever car park you choose.

Note the mileage and photograph the car from all four sides at drop-off.

Check your return time and what happens if your flight lands late.

On your return, walk round the car before leaving the site, and report any damage on the spot.

FAQ

Why book through a platform that checks car parks?

Because the checks that matter most cannot be made from a screen: where the car sleeps, who holds the keys, how the service really works on your return. On Comparkly, we check documents, meet operators, visit sites and make test bookings before you do.

Is the price higher on Comparkly?

The price shown is agreed with each car park and includes every fee, our service fee too. We make no promise about price. Compare the total for your dates, and look at what has been checked.

Who is responsible if my car is damaged?

The car park operator looks after your car and is answerable for what happens on its site. We check that our partners have insurance, and our support team helps you reach the car park and follow up your complaint. Report any damage before you leave the car park.

What does the Verified by Comparkly badge mean?

It means our team went to the site and checked the entrance, where the cars are parked, how keys are handled, the trip to the terminal and the opening hours. The visit date is shown. A car park without the badge has passed our document checks but has not been visited yet.

Can I cancel a booking made on Comparkly?

Yes. You get a refund until 24 hours before arrival, minus the service fee. With the Flexible cancellation option, you can cancel until 2 hours before arrival, minus the service fee and the price of the option. The details are in our FAQ.

The easiest way to judge for yourself: look at the totals for your own dates, with each car park's badge and visit date. Start by choosing your airport, and if a question is still open, write to us.
